Sounds like you had a sucky JVM. Of course that's an a
vulnerability...but I'll bet your JVM was written in C.

The Java performance story is one *heck* of a lot better than it used
to be back in 1995-1998.

Um...it *might* be good (for some valkues of "good")...but by the time
you were done they'd all have CompSci degrees. I've seen people who
didn't want to do software forced to learn assembler; it's ugly.
Maybe it would just be better to teach them how to get along with
software people. :-)
