You had a nice signal on AO-40 this morning :-)

There are several good, and inexpensive, easy options out there.  I wrote 
about a couple of them in the Nov/Dec 2001 AMSAT Journal, including a crystal 
calibrator, the G0MRF kit, and the famous "Duckling" mod (select the "S-band 
Toys" menu item):

Another options is Bob, K5GNA sell a cheap MMDS d/c for $17.50 that is easily 
converted to a signal source:
