Re: Question about AO-40 telemetry
Hi Stacey and all,
First I would like to clarify my question. As some other people already
refered on the list, I was not asking for specific info on keys or
frequencies but for a general hint pertaining the nature of the mechanism
used on AMSAT Satellites for authentication.
One is not able crack a system by having only a slight idea of its
workings, unless the system relies on security by obscurity.
The reason I'm asking is that for sometime I was part of one of the teams on
an ESA student project (project is called SSETI) to build a Microsat. The
role of my team was to set up a command station. At that time I wondered how
we would do authentication between the command station and satellite.
Unfortunately due to personal reasons I had to abandon the project, so I
never got to know the answer to that, and it is rather difficult to find any
info on it.
So again, I ask not for keys or frequencies, but only some very general
info, like: is the command uplink encripted or not, or is the authentication
password based, or other kind of method (like the IHU sends a "challenge
question" for which the command station must give the righ answer)...
Thank you very much for your attention.
Best regards
