I asked on our Japanese local JAMSAT-ML about your questions
and got some answer. I will translate these message on here.

"I usually QRV around 2401.350~360MHz with mode S1. I worked
50 domestic and 20 DX QSO on SSTV."

"Usually QRV at 20~60KHz up from the S2-MB. Most SSTV ops
using mode Scottie 1, but also most ops using MMSSTV v1.06
so the CQ of Robot36 will be received automaticaly.
The downlink frequency from AO-40 drift oftenly so please send
the 1200Hz tone about 5 sec or more on the biginning of your
transmitting. It will helps tuning for receiver. Do not move
your uplink frequency between your transmittion. Tune your
receiving frequency only for doppler collection. We JA hams
waiting your SSTV CQ."
