Re: PSK31 & SSTV AO-40

Jeff/KB2M was right. No, he was RIGHT!!!

I managed to cobble together enough cables and wires to my '736 to get on
PSK31 last night. I was just goofing around, trying to figure out how the
full duplex version of WinPSK would work. Yep, I squatted down 70kHz from
the beacon. I was finally able to copy my signal (IMD=10 YIKES!!) and copy
it reliably when Jim/KB3KJ answered one of my CQs.

What a lot of fun and excitement! It was just like getting on AO-8 way back
before automation and the 5400 rotor came along (at least in my shack..).
Twisting dials, keying the rig with a foot switch and moving the mouse. It
was real busy until I got it figured out.

Now I need to put that RigBlaster in line so I can set the levels better and
clean up the signal. It will be nice not to have to key the rig with the
foot switch as well.

So, Jeff, thanks for posting your note and making me think about where the
non-voice operation should be. This has provided me with yet another spark
of excitement about satellite operation. 73
