Yes, it's half price compared to the AOR AR5000, but there's a reason for 
that....

Icom R8500 is not too bad, but AR5000 is better above 1GHz. The Icom stops 
at 2GHz approx, where as the AR5000 goes to 2.6GHz as the Yaesu. The AOR is 
roughly same price last time i checked, depending on country and 
exchange-rates.
The Icom is simpler to operate, though.
