R: Auroral effects, RS12/13?

Hello Tony,

If you got the distorted signal during your southern pass when the
satellite subpoint was belove the equator and if the AOS azimuth was
around 210 degrees (SSW),probably the effect of distorsion in 10 meters
is due to TEP or Trans Equatorial Propagation in 2 meters.

When the TEP occurs the uplink signal in 2 meters arrives at the satellite
2 meters antenna and 2 meters transponder input via many different path
and so with a continuosly changing phase difference.

The 10 meters downlink signal is than affected by the translated phase
difference wich produces a modulation distorsion similar to a
characteristic fast gurgling.

In Europe we experienced many of this TEP effects via AO-10 and 13 as well
in mode-B ,70cm uplink and 2 meters downlink.
