Re: Auroral effects, RS12/13?

While I've heard auroral type flutter on RS12 in the past, the distortion I
heard recently was present from my southern AOS and continued throughout the
pass. Since I'm in central Florida I hear the bird when it is still a LONG
way from any aurora activity.

Someone said it was due to the VHF downlink on the primary payload being
turned on. I operated mode K quite often in 93-95 and never heard the
distortion then or in the brief periods I've operated Mode T.

Even though activity is light sometimes, RS12 is our last Mode A sat, and is
still the easiest for newbies to get on and make good QSOs. I sure wish some
school or group would build a new Mode A bird.
