"N" connector holes..



Dear Bob:
As an avionics tech., those small holes around the threaded ring are for
security
wire to pass through.
Stainless steel wire is used and the holes are "wired" so constant
tightening is applied to the threaded part to maintain integrity and
minimize loosening from the effect/s of vibrations that occur during
flight.

Mil-Spec'd connectors "usually" have those "holes"....that's why the
U.S. government paid $45.00 each for them*S*(joking)
I hope this helped to shed a bit of light on a mystery wrapped up in an
enigma.
