Another approach is to generate an LO at about 11 GHz where amplification is
easier and use a harmonic mixer consisting of antiparallel connected diodes.
At 24,192 MHz I was able to use silicon diodes intended for 12 GHz TVRO
conveters with only 14 dB of loss in the mixer. The mixer is essentially a
24 GHz waveguide to SMA transistion with diodes connected beteen the coax
connector and the bottom surface of the waveguide. The IF and LO are
multiplexed onto the SMA connector. 13-14 dBm of LO was required.
DUBUS Technik volumes IV and V provide information on 24 GHz equipment
including LNAs and mixers. The publisher is:
DUBUS Verlag
Grutzmuhlenweg 23

Another useful publication is "Microwave Update" which is published annually
by the ARRL (www.arrl.org). Back issues are available.
