It depends on the radio.  My old Alinco warbles around a lot when the PTT is
activated.  Certainly not a good candidate for PTT CW.  The Icom HT, OTOH,
is quite stable and well suited to having a key hooked up to it.  The worst
it does is a small amount of chirp at key up.
