[amsat-bb] unbelievable....but real....AO40 !

Hi All...

Just now,AO40...orbit 386/distance 49.800km...,utc 16:33h worked JE2VVN in
cw-qso....(rst give 559 / get 579 )
SQ approx. 10°...used uplink 70cm/LHCP/14dB ant.-gain and ONLY 5...10 watts
PEP ! (FT847)
But the hottest part of the story is my used
RX-(first~)test...-configuration...with NO dish (!)..
NO helix...ONLY a simple wide-band-feedhorn (1...6 GHz.. ,stand-alone...!)
used out of the
shack-window,horizontal polarized...."stand-alone-gain" 8,4 dBd ! Without
dish and tripod...hold by my wifes HAND...!
Next following direct preamp.13cm/0,6dB noise>>10m simple RG58-coax/BNC both
ends >>
UEK3000SAT>>>and next..converter 432-434/28-30 Mc >>> ...connected to my
elecraft K 2 (!!!) (S/N:1577). Excellent....!

With 15 watts/PEP used power I get the LEILA-warnings....hi..so I reduced
down to 5 watts/PEP up to 10 watts maximum for good conditions.

That is only a small&short weekend-project....just for FUN and testing
to see how good or bad small equipments could work used for AO 40......
