Don,
I have virtually the same setup. I get s5 for noise floor on my Icom 910H.
Beacon is s9 with the QSOs down ten db as is expected. That puts them at s6.
Not much margin, I conclude that the Airlink 60cm dish does not cut it. It
is linear polarization for starters.I have not had the guts to try to open
the AirLink radom. It is bonded to the dish. The solution: First go to RHCP
which is +3db, I am going to the new Patch feed which can muster about an
additional db. I am going to switch to a 1.2 meter Channel Master Offset
dish with this Patch Feed. The result should be about + 10db. This should do
the trick.
Next problem? Pointing the dish. I am looking at a way to mount the dish on
the 5500 rotor system, just over the motors so I do not present a weighted
leverage problem to the system. The overall weight is not an issue. The
final question will be if the 5500 will be accurate enough due to the couple
of db 1/2 power beam width. We'll see.

Guenther,
I have mounted a 9 pound 2x3 ft dish/converter package designed for the
transsystem converter. I mounted it on a PVC saddle which clamps to the PVC
boom and sits over the rotator . This places the weight over the tower. I
then made a counter balance from a 5 pound lead weight which I was able to
attach on a 2 foot boom beside the rotator on the side of the boom from the
2 M antenna. The balance works very well but the dish is a disapointment
after the 16 turn helix.
I am still evaluating what I have in the next few passes. Have not found
the S1 beacon yet.
