AMSAT-UK congratulates Gene Marcus, W3PM, on winning our competition
to find a new logo for the spacecraft. It can be viewed and downloaded
from the Amsat-UK web site <http://www.uk.amsat.org/ao40logo.htm>
The competition was to design a new logo for the AMSAT OSCAR 40 satellite
to replace the existing Phase 3D logo and was chosen by delegates at the
2001 Amsat-UK Colloquium and also approved by Robin Haighton, VE3FRH,
President of AMSAT-NA and Peter Guelzow, DB2OS, President of AMSAT-DL.
It will now be employed as a visual tag for AO40 in print and on websites,
ties, patches etc. This will also help to publicise the existence of this
major new amateur radio achievement.
AMSAT funds have also benefited from this competition; Amsat-UK offer
grateful thanks to the donor (who wishes to remain anonymous).
