That one cover of CQ magazine that screamed "AO40 IN TROUBLE!" the 
month after launch did more damage to the bird's reputation that any 
nuumber of "anniversary editions" dedicated to satops will ever be able 
to repair.

QST and the ARRL letter have reported the ups and downs of the bird. 
Most folks are conditioned from years of NASA and commercial sat press 
releases that once you hear shortly post-launch that a spacecraft is 
"in trouble" that (1) it's totally screwed and (2) you never hear 
anything further.
