Yes,  Get a marking crayon, mark off the outer 4 ft carefully on the
surface, get out a jig saw and cut off the outer four ft and then you have a
good 3.5 ft dish with a nice long focal length (we changed the diameter so
the f/d changes nicely) and it will work great.

Chasing AO-40 with a 7.5 ft dish will drive you nuts.
