Re: RCA/DSS dish feed resources?

The preamp is definitely required. My transverter with a 3 dB NF was useless
for copying telemetry. A 0.7 dB NF preamp produces solid copy with a
3x16-turn helix and I can barely hear the transponder noise floor at 35,000
km with a 33" dish. Since the middle beacon is supposed to be 10 dB higher
than user signals, you will need a good receiving system for normal use.
