Simpler or cheaper? I wouldn't find it *simpler* to build my FT-847 from
parts but, like "free software", it would only be cheaper if my time is
free. :-)
Technolongy always lists for $1500 but you can get it for $1300 if you
shop around. That was true of my first S-100 microcomputer and it's
still true today. I think it's the price point vendors engineer for
because it's at the XYL threshold...the point at where it becomes a
family decision. :-)
