R: AO-40 Arcjet Engine



Hello Dick,

I am looking at P3D 400N Motor System schematic diagram designed by you.
I see the Helium and  Propellant pipes with the electrical  interconnection
with all valves.
After many reasoning  on this schematic diagram i concluded that N2O4 and
MMH valves as well the isolation valves  were opening while receiving the
fire command but they where not closing immediately when the fire command 
was removed because someting wrong happens to port 3 (vent) in the Solenoid
motor valve.
Since the helium low pressure 15 bar was not desharged at port 3,the inside
springs in the valves where not in condition to mechanically close
immediately living the N2O4 and MMH to flow both in to the 400N Motor for
 about 3 minutes more than requested.
I was looking at the AO40 TLM during  the first attemp to fire the motor as
well during the tank pressurization procedure when the 145 MHz TLM stopped
to work and i strongly believe that a problem occurred on Solenoid motor
valve port 3 (vent)  wich remain closed all the time.
I would like to know your opinion about the possibility of this problem.
