I think Bob's idea is that there are a LOT of those Radio Shack 10m rigs
around out there that are cheap.
Here is what you need to spend to get on a mode A satellite with new
equipment:
FT-817 (recently less than $700 at Dayton): approx $750
Radio Shack 10m rig: $100
or:
IC-706MKIIG (recently sold for $740 at Dayton): approx $900
Radio Shack 10m rig: $100
or:
The HF/2m all mode rig you already have: $0.00
Radio Shack 10m rig: $100
So for less than $1000 you can have a portable satellite station.
I think that's what Bob's getting at.
