Hi Al,

I seem to remeber running across that diode 1ss85 on the Circuit
Specialist web site the last time i was looking for some bfr90's.  They
were a bit pricey though about $3-$4.  I decided to build the G4DMF 2,4
Ghz test oscillator.  It uses the 50mhz crystal can oscillator and a
bfr90 transistor for some amplification.  I am almost finished with it. 
I will  have some comments when it is up and running.  I would expect an
hp 5082 series diode to work ......that was where I started.  Good Luck.
