Re: Adding Preamp to 2.4 Gig



I guess the easiest approach would be to drill a small hole on the
transystems converter and put a feedthru cap there. Then connect it to the
output of the 12 volt regulator. Then run a small wire to the preamp. You
only need to run a single wire since they share the same ground.

A more elegant solution would be to put voltage on the 2.4 GHz input of the
converter and send the DC to the preamp using the coax. The DEM preamp can
be powered thru the coax. It already has an etched inductor for the DC feed.
This approach might be tricky because if you do something wrong  you might
mess up the NF of the converter. This should only be done if you have the
proper test equipment.
