The antennas are "on the opposite side" as compared to AO-13, but they are 
on the SAME side as the motor on AO-40.

This can be seen in the photos. For instance, the motor bell is clearly 
visible on the gain antenna side in this one:

This doesn't change any of the practical advice you gave.
