Generally, you want the dish diameter to be in excess of 10 wavelengths so
it stops looking like a parasitic element to the dish feed. That's a 90
inch dish for 1296. Ugh. You are better off with a single loop yagi (6 feet
long with 30 watts) or a 15-20 turn helix.
(yes, I know few people use 50" dishes for S band, but the small dishes
common for S band, that kinda work on S band, are way too small for L.)
