AO-40 Results this morning

This morning I had really good results on AO-40. I woke up at 5:00 am EDT in
EM73. The beacon was S7-9 and the squint was close to 3 degrees. based on
the current ALAT/ALON

A HI, THIS IS AMSAT OSCAR-40 2001-05-09 10:37:43 #0147

| ALON/ALAT=23/1, EXPERIMENTAL U/L1->S2, MA 136-240, AVOID MB! |

AMSAT Day = 8529 Orbit# = 240 MA = 215
Current AMSAT Day = 8529

Some of the stations worked:

I1TEX in IN35
KB2WQM
DJ3OS in JN49
DA1AF in frankfurt
CU8AO in HM49
K3XS
W0OQC
KE4AZN
F4BLE
KK3K

Some of the contacts were worked with 10 watts on 435 into a 19 element
linear yagi. Toward the end of the pass the alligators atarting waking up
and the signals degraded some, but for the most parts everyone was below the
beacon.
At around MA210, the squint increased to around 8degrees and the signals
degraded. There was up to 15 dB of QSB on my 16 turn helix.

I am going back to bed. I am still copying telemetry at MA=217 S8. I did
make one mistake and that was to start AO40RCV with the doppler correction
turned on and in Memory mode on the ts2000. Took me a while to realize why
the radio had gone nuts.

73's
Pieter
