I've just been re-reading a copy of the ARRL Satellite Anthology 5th
Edition.

If you have either (a) QST March 1997 or (b) ARRL Satellite Anthology 5th
edition, take a look at the article 'Get Ready for Phase 3D - Part 3'.

Steve Ford WB8IMY & Zack Lau W1VT discuss the nuances of mode U/S and L/S on
AO-40 (nee P3D). There's not much here which differs from what's going on
today. Certainly still very valid reading and a great introduction for
anyone considering building an AO-40 station.
