any experiences with AO-40 L-Band sensitivity?

Hi all,
telemetry indicates, that before MA160 the Mode-L RX doesn't seem to use
any AGC desense.. can anyone give us a EIRP number derived from
experience and not only from calculation? Perhaps this is the way to
avoid the transponder desensing by the crocodiles on Mode-U..
