RE: AO-40: First uplink trial disappointing.....



same results here,
at my first try (at MA166, squint 23deg, 10deg. elevation, 60k km) it took
me 15min. to find the downlink. 50W in 10ele (indoor) are enough for AO10
but not for AO40 at that time...  U-AGC is moving around 9-15 !!! only,
because
to much uplink power??? i don´t think so. U-AGC was around 8dB in some
orbits
(orbit 228 upto 18dB !!!) without any uplink signal.  ...i will have the
next try
this night.

Hello,
my first uplink try with AO-40´s transponder on May, 5´th between
08:00 and 09:00 UTC results following:

Location: JN57QS, Bavaria, Germany

RX:        MB with 1.2m Dish S3-S5, loud and clear, all telemetry
              blocks CRC Ok.

TX:        L-Band :10 Watt rhcp,  1,2m Dish: no signal back to receive!
              U-Band: 10 Watt rhcp, 13 dB Yagi: no signal back to
receive!
              U-Band: 70 Watt rhcp, 13 dB Yagi: very weak signal, S0, no
SSB possible
