An interesting discussion about ud.com's operations:

Looks like they use your CPU cycles and you get to feel good about it. 

In the mean time ud.com is on their way to the bank with the check they
got from their clients - the clients they just sold your CPU cycles to. 

Not a bad deal if you don't mind just feel'n good about it (+ whatever
rewards they dole out). And they do get some good work done.
