Special Event




FIRST MAN IN SPACE

April 12th 2001 is the 40th Anninversary of manned space flight when
Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was launched into space on board a Vostok 1
spacecraft by the former USSR (Russia).

To celebrate this historic event, and the vast contribution to manned Space
Flight made by the Russians  G8ATE, G7OBR and G7HIA will be operating a
special event station using the call sign GB1MSF ( First Manned Space
Flight.)  Starting on the evening of April 12th, April 13th and all day
Saturday April 14th activity will continue on and off  for four  weeks. 
The club call M1ASE will also be active over a similar period.  Contacts
with either station will qualify for a full colour  commemorative QSL card.
  Activity will be concentrated on the Russian satellite RS12. We plan to
be on FO-20, FO-29 and AO-10 plus the FM birds UO-14 and AO-27 QRM
permitting.
If you know satellite enthusiast who are not on this bb please spread the
word.
