Re: AO-40 EIRP?

Based on what I've found so far, I think the EIRP listed on the web site is
for the dish.  I suspect the gain on the helix is something like 3-4 dbi.

I wonder if the beacon is really outputting 50W.  I am thinking that the 50W
might be the total power output for a transponder fully loaded with users in
which case the beacon would be much lower.  Of course since the transponders
are currently off maybe all 50W are concentrated in the beacon.  I tried
looking at some of the telemetry in the archive to see if I could determine
the actual measured output power.  The "Power S-band Tx 2" value seems to be
106-110.  The tlm spec. says "use raw" so I don't know how it relates to
wattage output.
