Satellite success story

Others have had satellites with problems, but in the case
of NOAA-15, they've been able to come up with a fix.

Last July the synchronization on the AVHRR scan mirror
failed. At best you got psychedelic swirls; at worst you
got jumbled garbage. There was discussion on amsat-bb.

In the mean time, the NOAA folks have found that if they
periodically resynchronize the system, they get decent
imagery. The satellite is operational again. They resync
daily at 0730 UTC.

NOAA-16, alas, has a fried APT downlink, with no real
chance of recovery. I really must get the HRPT stuff
going... :-}
