Re: u-100 rotor mod.
I have a U-100. The only mod that makes it easy to use is the following.
There is a metal tab that is part of the housing casting at the end
of the 4 studs that mount it to the mast. The purpose of that tab is to
prevent the rotor from sliding down the mast. That is, the top of the
mast slides in from the bottom and hits that tab and can't go any
further. If you saw that tab off with a hacksaw it makes it easier to
mount horizontally. You mount it horizontally by making a square plate
with 4 holes for the original mounting studs, and 2 pairs of holes
for two u-bolts to mount the plate to your mast.
