ao40 and telemetry

Based upon the archives and the MA's that stations are successful at
gathering telemetry, I wanted to make a couple of observations.

a) MA successes seem to be from about 240-40 at a very general observations
b) US stations today should see those MA's starting at about 2000z
c) tomorrow (Sunday), we get an excellent pass for NA with MA's falling in
this range, in fact, depending on how far out you can hear the bird, you
could have up to an hour with excellent MA's to provide telemetry

For the next two days, I'm going to *try* to provide a live feed of the
telemetry. This will require that I be here (to tune doppler :)), and I get
my firewall setup to support this (I'm using new equipment, so be patient)

I'll try to have it all setup at around 3:00pm EST today. Connection
information will be provided below. A couple of general comments.

a) if there is not data, you will get connected but nothing will happen, so
don't think it's busted. Be patient and check on the IRC channel with me
and others during these times.
b) you can always test by using telnet to the hostname and port below, you
will get garbage characters if it's working and if you get nothing, well,
there isn't anything coming out or, it's not working, again, check the IRC
channel.

Connection information:
hostname: www.highrf.com
portnumber: 9000

Don't try before 3:00pm EST as I probably won't have everything turned up
before 3pm EST

I'll probably be generating this feed from ao40rcv. It should support both
p3t and ao40rcv so make sure you have one or both loaded up and operational.
I don't have the links handy, but there recently listed on www.amsat-dl.org
or put them in a search engine and get them loaded up.

I'll also be on the IRC channel at this same time. For those that want that
information.

software for windows
MIRC - www.mirc.com

server: us.chatnet.org
channel: #amsat (you do a /join to get there once connected)
preferred username: CALLSIGN

As it relates to tomorrow (Sunday) and that pass, all of the above applies,
use your prediction software to predict MA's starting at 240, if I remember
right, it should be about 10:00am or so tomorrow morning Atlanta time.

I hope you find this useful???

Alan
