Hi Guys,
I use my FT-100 half-duplex. For mobile use, this is perfectly
adequate as I wouldn't use headphones in the car anyway. For
home station use, it is pretty nice to have full duplex.
The idea of running two different radios has been around a long time.
At least on package, InstantTune, will run two completely different
radios (from different vendors) at the same time and I think a few other
packages will also.
For the truly "hard-core," InstantTune will even run 3 different radios
at the same time. I used to run RS-12/13 mode KT this way and listen to
both downlinks at the same time, one on the right ear and the other on the
left (no, I'm not kidding!)
There is really no reason to use 2 radios with the same protocol which is
a good thing because EVERY Yaesu radio is different.
