I'd expect lots of activity on U/S, because it's the same
bands as AO-13 Mode S.

How is the availability of Mini-Circuits stuff? Ed Krome
(now K9EK, then KA9LNV) published a nice transverter in
QST a while back. It is based heavily on Mini-Circuits
components, and it works well.

I recently built a Hamtronics 70cm -> 10m receive converter.
It's a warmed-over 1970s design with dual-gate MOSFETs as
RF amplifiers and mixers. The same one that was written
up in the AMSAT Jurnal. It works fine so far...

What are the requirements for importing electronics into
VK-land? Us VE-types can import any electronics we want,
duty-free, as long as we pay the federal and provincial
sales tax on it.

Very little is readily available in Canada. We have to
import just about everything.

Ed's converter uses a 5th overtone crystal in the 101 MHz
region, multiplied by 4. The Hamtronics converter comes
with a crystal.
