Yeah, on the J-FM birds, formal contacts are typically not done in the
interest of sharing the bird. 3-way exchanges are common, and folks
have worked before, sometimes just 2-way. If we already know each
other, we may just say something like "acknowledging..." and then a
list of calls, or maybe just suffixes (or even first names if we talk
often). That's especially needed when activating a rare-to-uncommon
grid, since there's so little time. It helps alot to hear one's own
downlink, as one knows when one can be heard. It's very different from
linear transponder birds, or for that matter other modes of operation,
especially HF.
I hope to work you one of these days, after all the interesting and
knowledgible comments on-line. I should be able to clear my QSL card
backlog in the next month, as it looks like i won't need to find a
new QTH after all. 73s and good luck.
