Re: ISS Expedition II amateur activity...

Hello,

yes Francisco I remember, exactly September 1994 and mission was STS-64
Discovery.
For me, this was latest voice contact with a Space Shuttle's Crew.
Onboard Space Shuttle were three Amateur Radio Operators:

Richard (Dick) N. Richards CDR, KB5SIW
L. Blaine Hammond, Jr. PLT, KC5HBS
Jerry M. Linenger MS, KC5HBR

An image of qsl card about STS-64 mission can be found here (front and
rear):

We are hoping to hear ISS's Crew soon on air, but I think we will have a few
possibility for present Crew.

This weekend I spoke with Elena Krikalev and she said me that Sergei and all
the Crew are very very busy for the Progress arrive and waiting for next
Shuttle mission March 8, 2001 (under review): Discovery STS-102.
We will wait for next mission but we know that amateur radio activity is
Crew workload depending.
I hope to talk with James Voss (Expedition II) because I met him in Cape
Canaveral for STS-88 Endeavour mission in December 1998.
He was the speakers at the astronauts family's briefing before launch and
Krikalev was ready for second flight on US Shuttle.
And now James Voss will be member of the second Crew ready for flight next
week :o)

Ciao from Italy Claudio ik1sld
