Re: S Band installation

Hi Howard,
I haven't been sucessful yet at RXing AO-40. Most of my passes (Sydney)
when I have had the time and it hasn't been raining (6" fell today) have
been close to apogee. I have heard is a faint beacon on S band but could not
decode any telemetry. Can't tell what it was. I was using a 24bd gain
Conifer "BBQ grill" parabolic grid dish and a modified Conifer downconverter
(0.7db Noisefigure, 35 db gain and 430MHz IF into a Yaesu 767 GX . My
antenna was mounted onto a video camera tripod in my front yard. I will try
again when AO-40 is near perigee and should be able to get something. In the
interum I might see if I can check the system using a known 2.4 GHz weak
signal sorce.
