But they have almost 100 times better link margins than GEO.  (2000 mi
vs 20,000)  Thats 20 dB...  Thats why its the only way to make handheld
satellite phones practical. (ie, Iridium, Globalstar, and teledesic)

Its also why you can use an HT with the LEOS but will need an OSCAR
station to work a GEO...
