Neat idea.  A few years ago I built a satellite trailer onto a garden cart
for home (told the HOA that the CC&R's did not apply to things not
bolted to the ground/concrete/house/...) and quasi-portable use.  Your
solution is certainly more elegant (and more elaborate!).
