* SSTL to build Nigeria-1 and 2

Nigeria and UK-based Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL)
have signed an agreement to launch two micro- satellites by the
year 2002, according to news agency PANA.

One of the two satellites, designated Nigeria-1, would be put
into a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) to provide remote-sensing services.
The other one, Nigeria-2, is to be launched into Geostationary
Earth Orbit (GEO) and used for communications purposes. The total
cost of the project is estimated at 8
billion naira (US$75 million.)
