Portland ARC (U.K.) Annual Rally.

Portland Amateur Radio Club will be holding it's 6th
annual rally this Sunday the 8th October 2000, at
The Royal Manor School Portland, Dorset. (IO80SM)

One of the displays for the expected :) thousands of
local residents and radio amateurs will be an attempt(s)
to work though AO-27 and UO-14.

The equipment in use will be an ARROW antenna and an
ICOM W2E handheld transceiver.
Output with a 12v supply will be about 4W.

If you happen to hear the callsign(s) G7VQP or G0VOP
through the weekend rush, it would be great to talk to
you.

The aim, as always, is to introduce members of the
viewing/listening public and radio amateurs to satellite
communications.

The Rally starts at 0900 UTC and is expected to come
to a grinding halt at around 1400 UTC.

One of the attractions will be a working demonstration
of NOAA Weather satellite reception using the RX2 and WxSat
software with a turnstile antenna.

Another will be a demonstration of 24cms Amateur Television,
over a short distance, using a remote controlled camera with
azimuth/elevation control, for a view of the beautiful Dorset
coastline from The Island of Portland. ( It will rain now !)

Hope we manage to work someone, somewhere.

Regards,

Dave G1OCN.
