Re: Security Guard in the Building next door.
I have found being honest, and PROACTIVE has worked very well.
I have operated portable from a number of locations, hotels, national parks,
and CASINOS. Find the Security Chief, not just a Guard walking an area.
Politely, but directly explain "I'm an FCC Licenced Amateur..... and I'm going
to be operating via satellite from your parking lot, balcony, etc. (set a
location), at XX:XX (state the time and duration) . I am not listening to your
in house communications, nor is there any possibility of my interfering
with them.
Then I show them the pass projection on the PALM IIIc.
I thought I was going to have a problem at an Indian owned Casino
in Michigan, when the security head drove up as a UO-14 pass started.
"My Uncle used to be a HAM, when you talked to me before it sounded
interesting.... how does this work?"
He came out to watch us operate the pass!
I now travel with a copy of "Now Your Talking" to give away.
