Re: Kenwood TH-D7 MK2 ????

Hi Jon

Yes you're quite right.

In Europe it's colloquially called the MK2 as opposed to the (G). The MK2
and the (G) are most definitely two different things. I perhaps incorrectly
made an assuption Luis was referring to the European TH-D7E MK2, so sorry if
I made the wrong assumption!

You either get a TH-D7E MK2 or a DH-D7A(G). Both the TNC and radio firmware
are different. MK2 does not mean (G)!

A while ago I asked Kenwood in the UK if the TH-D7E MK2 was going to have
the (G) fixes too, and the answer was that they had no plans to do so.

I should also add that the 9600bps packet _does_ work fine for small packets
(<240 bytes or so) in a medium use channel in KISS mode. So 9600 APRS is no
problem, although I don't believe there's many of us using APRS at 9600
regularly. I found that under heavy traffic conditions with long KISS (eg
IP) packets that the overrun problem I referred to occurs. If there was an
option to increase the data rate (not modem rate) to 19200 things would
probably work better.

Just wanted to clear that up!
