I used a 1 1/4 inch hardwood wooden round like the type you use for clothes
racks in the closet.  It worked fine.  I only replaced it cuz I cut it a bit
short and the antennas would foul the feedlines when it was pointed near
straight up.  Then I got a fiberglass pole.
