There is a preliminary agenda at http://www.amsat.org/amsat/symposium/agenda.html

In short, the main official attraction is the presentation of papers. Most are slightly technical. Usually, only a few are pretty technical, and only a few are completely non-technical. If you want to get a really good idea what they're like, you can order last year's Proceedings document from the office.

The main unofficial attraction, not listed in any agenda, is the hallway conversations. It's a great opportunity to share experiences with people of all experience levels, from veteran satellite designers to complete novices. You could be sitting in the lounge and hear AMSAT's next big project get dreamed up. Or you could hear stories about what really happens in the satellite labs. Or ... whatever.

Time at the banquet is usually filled up with speeches, a looong series of presentations of plaques of appreciation, followed by a looong series of door prize giveaways.
