This is a problem that will not go away, programmers who write for
Linux make little or no money (by definition), and programmers
who write for Mac have a very small (usually non-scientific) audience
and again won't make much money (writing scientific code). Since
money makes the world go round, you won't find allot of coding 
support for Linux or Mac. And yes, it is tree that there are those
who write Linux aps for free, but there are MANY more who write Win 
aps for free. You will find that there are a few very vocal anti-MS
people on this group, do not let them confuse you, they are very
much a minority.

Well now I see there are mac and linux support for usb but there are
still alot
of devices that still only work on windows...Hopefully this will change.
