SUNSAT UI Packets

This morning I saw a packet briefly from XE1KK via SUNSAT on the front
panel of my mobile Kenwood. But since it was not in APRS format, it was
not captured. It looked like he was running a 5/8 wave vertical but that
is all I saw before it scrolled off the screen.

It is important for SUNSAT users to be aware of all the other stations
that might be using only a Kenwood HT or D700 to work the satellite, and
they cannot see any packet unless it is in APRS format. The easiest
format is simply the STATUS format. THis format simply begins the
packet with a ">" character. Up to 20 characters may follow.

Also be sure to use one of the generic UNPROTO CQ VIA SUNSAT or other
generic TOCALLS such as QST, BEACON, or ALL or APRS.

If you want to send a msg longer than 20 characters, then put up to 64
characters into a BULLETIN format as in the form of:

:BLN1CQALL:Hello everyone. How copy from Pookipsee....?

To send more than one bulletin, just increment the BLN#....
To send a message to a specifric person, use the same :...: format using
the persons CALL instead. But it must be right padded with spaces to a
total of 9 characters between the :....:'s.

See ya on the bird!
