A cable which works well in a network installation may not work that well
when you pass RF through it. I used BNC+RG58 network cables to patch
equipment in the shack and experienced high SWR. The problem was traced to
poorly crimped BNC connectors.
Of course, if you have control over the materials, tools and labour, there
should be no problem with crimped connectors at RF. The computer network
people are usually not familiar with the conditions at RF and the
connectors they use are sometimes of a low grade and not adviseable to use
at RF.
My caution refers to pre-made cables for computer networks and if you lay
your hands on some good cable, rather replace the connectors with better
quality RF connectors.
